The Five Weirdest Things I Pray About

The last time I blogged about prayer, I got a pretty good response. So on a different note, here are five strange things I pray about.

Prayer is literally communing. Communing is kind of like... well, conversing. But all the time. Like the best-friend-version of conversing. I commune with my siblings and parents and closest friends. I tell them not only the huge, major issues or triumphs of my life, but also the little trivial "fun facts" of my moment-by-moment life. Weird stories and dreams and ideas. Everything.

That's how it's supposed to be with God, too!

I've been focusing on my prayer life lately. Not only do I want to run to God when I need help and guidance through the darkest storms of life, but I want Him to be apart of every little moment, too!

Here are just five of the "weird" things I pray about.

I'm hoping that this inspires somebody to a deeper relationship with God. While we know "big" things in life definitely happen, life is truly made up of those little insignificants, and I want God to be glorified on both levels.

On Being a Sheep // More Lessons From Big-Sisterhood

I just wanna' be a sheep,
In God's pasture,
Listenen' for the Shepherd call.

I just wanna be a wooly little lamb,
Happy as a clam,
Jesus makes my heart rejoice!

I just wanna be there,
In the Shepherd's care,
Sittin' at the Master's feet.

Not a dog! (Woof woof!)
Not a bird! (Tweet tweet!)
I just wanna be a sheep!!

BAAAAAAAAA

... so goes the children's VBS music.

And then my brother, a few months ago, I think just before he turned three, was asked what he wanted to be when he grows up. "A sheep!", was the energetic, ever so innocent reply.

So adorable, right?!

But I don't get it.

I don't wanna' be a sheep!

Blogger Book Tag (You're It!)

I keenly remember the first time I fell in love with a book. I was six years old. My parents were having a painting/work day at our at-the-time-new health food store in Petal, Mississippi. I was to sit and entertain my little sister, Kristen, in the back/play room. That didn't happen. That was the day I discovered Nancy Drew Mysteries.

And that was the first day of the rest of my life.

I am passing along this book-lover's tag, as started by Lauren of One Bright Corner.

10 Books For Every Christian Young Lady

Hi, everyone!!

So, if you're new to me and my blog, it might be news to you that I am the eldest of seven children- all boys except six!! ;)

As the big sister of five blossoming young women, I don't take the responsibility of setting a good example lightly. I just know that at least a few of them will always follow every move I make. Even the prospect of getting into a romantic relationship someday is daunting, because I have all of these people that are watching, just waiting to reenact my every move.

I try to set a good example in my taste of things, including clothes, music, movies, blogs, and books.

BOOKS!

I really love books.

Even though my sister right under me in the line-up, Kristen, isn't much on books, she's turning 16 this week (wait.. what?!), and I'm writing this just with her in mind. Basically, I'm taking all of the books I've ever read and narrowing it down to only ten that I believe really molded me into who I am today, and helped me out when I was waist-deep and not making up any ground in the murky waters of teenagerhood.

With all of the junk "literature" out there these days, I really want to be able to steer my siblings in the right direction. So, I decided to compile a list of books that I recommend to my sisters as they take my place as the teenagers of the family, and I'm sharing this with the world, because the internet really needs more worthwhile book lists.
